The Methodist Mission to Oregon began with a focus on education, and the Willamette Heritage Center (WHC) carries this focus forward. The Center can be viewed not as an add-on field trip, but as a partner with schools, combining educational needs with solutions. It is the desire of WHC to provide students with the knowledge they need to develop their own sense of heritage by connecting the present to the past, enabling them to make better choices about their future.

We offer:

Our hands-on educational activities are available on-site at the Center, or off-site through our outreach programs, were we provide the instructor, lessons and supplies to your classroom.

Through tours and activities students learn about:

  • Local History
  • Oregon History

  • The Kalapuya
  • Early Settlement
  • The Migration West
  • Industrialization in Oregon
  • Water Power
  • Beginning Archeology

Orientation Video:

We highly recommend watching this video before bringing your students, as it will aid with preparing them for their visit, and will lead to a better learning experience.
