Alfred E. Meithof worked in the Picker House at TKWM starting 15 Dec 1950.
Alfred Edward Meithof was born on 24 May 1931, in Marion County, Oregon, to John Joseph and Marie [Blum] Meithof. Following his parents’ divorce in 1945, he initially remained on his father’s farm in Waconda. After he turned 18, he moved to his mother’s household in Salem and began working at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in the picker house.
Alfred continued working at the woolen mill at least until 1959. On April 14th of that year, he married Joanna Marie Straub in Stayton, Oregon, before a justice of the peace. At the time, Alfred was 24 years old, while Joanna, at 16, was a student. Their marriage ended in divorce in August 1963, with court records citing cruel and inhuman treatment as the cause. The couple had no children.
By this time, Alfred had transitioned to a career in the soft drink industry, working as a bottler. He resided at 540 Piedmont in West Salem. On 14 Oct 1966, he married Monica L. Ripley at the Riviera Baptist Church in Salem.
Alfred dedicated 30 years to Pepsi Cola Bottling Company before retiring in 1989. He passed away on 5 May 1990 from cancer. He was laid to rest at Belcrest Memorial Cemetery in Salem, Oregon. |
