Caboose #507 Welcome Party @ Willamette Heritage Center
Jul 28 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Caboose #507 Welcome Party

Friday, July 28th • 10:00 am to 5:00 pm • FREE ADMISSION ALL DAY!

After nearly two years of preparation, Oregon & California Caboose #507 is finally ready to make the trek to its new home!

Join us on Friday, July 28th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to watch a live feed of the move, and observe the once in a lifetime transportation of a massive 1909 artifact in the Mid-Willamette Valley. The Caboose will be lifted onto a large flatbed trailer by a crane at its current resting point near Eugene, and will then make its way up I-5 to the WHC. A second crane will lift the Caboose onto the tracks that have been set on the WHC grounds, and then the exciting restoration process will begin.

WHC admission will be FREE all day, a live feed of the move as well as an informative interview will be on display in the theatre, fun train-related children's activities will be available, and refreshments will be available.

Learn more about O&C Caboose #507 at www.willametteheritage.org/caboose-507/.

Oregon Trail Live™

Saturday, September 9th • 12:00 to 5:00

Remember getting a pass from math class to play the classic computer game, "Oregon Trail"? The WHC is proud to bring the game (but not math class) to life in our competitive event, Oregon Trail Live! OTL challenges teams of contestants to confront the difficulties of the Oregon Trail (as portrayed by the video game), from carrying 200 pounds of meat to running the rapids. Winner of the Outstanding Museum Educator Award from the Oregon and California Trails Association and supported by the computer game's developer, Oregon Trail Live provides a unique and fun way to learn about the Oregon Trail - while avoiding that dreaded fate of death by dysentery!

Teams registrations open on Tuesday, August 1st, so start circling your wagons now! Teams can consist of two to five individuals of any age. Register prior to September 9th for $20 per team. Registration at the gate costs $25. Visit www.willametteheritage.org/oregon-trail-live/ to for details and registration.
