On June 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. The Brooks Historical Society, Marion County, Oregon will be hosting an event to honor the contribution Madame Dorion made to the settling of the Oregon Territory.

Madame Dorion is celebrated in Oregon history as a heroic figure for her part in the 1811 Hunt Party expedition to Astoria and in the aftermath of the Reed party massacre in 1814.  Following the death of her husband, Pierre Dorion, in 1814, she married Louis Joseph Vagnier.  After his death she married Jean Baptiste Toupin who outlived her.

The event will include a talk by guest speaker and author Jane Kirkpatrick.
