Minto-Brown Island Park still has live Cherry Trees plated by Salem Pioneer John Minto.  This one-hour walk through the hidden old orchards of Minto Island will enable you to visit some of the remaining live trees and to rediscover early history of the Cherry City.

The three Saturday Tour Dates are:
April 2, 2011 9am
April 9, 2011 9am
April 16, 2011 9am

Tours meet near the white gate across the road from the parking lot by the dog park.

Most of Minto’s orchard is overun with invasive vegetation but volunteers are cutting the scotch broom, ivy and black berries to open up the orchard.  If you’d like to help reclaim more of the orchard, join one of the work parties every Saturday in March that gathers at 9 am just north of the dog park.
