docent acting as Sam Barlow stands outside thomas kay woolen mill in salem oregon at willamette heritage centerThe season of school tours is fast approaching, and we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to fill a variety of positions on an as-needed basis. As a docent, you can lead tours, bring a historical figure to life, or spark a child’s imagination with historic artifacts. At the meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet our staff, get details about the positions available, see living history and hands-on demonstrations, and learn about training requirements and scheduling needs.

Being a docent is a great way to engage in your community, learn more about local history, and support history education for our youth. The Willamette Heritage Center hosts over 3,000 students a year from all over the state, and we can’t wait for you to join us in spreading a love of history to each of them.

Optional museum tour will be offered after the meeting (2:00 pm – 3:00 pm).

For more information, please contact Erica Osorio, Education & Volunteer Coordinator, at 503-585-7012, or by email at ericao@willametteheritage.org.
