Program: Celebrating the Quilt Revival in Oregon since 1970

Join Quilt Historian Mary Bywater Cross in exploring how quilts have been “rediscovered” in the past 50 years.  Admission to the program is included in regular museum admission or admission to Quiltopia. Admission fees support the Willamette Heritage Center and Helping Hands Resources of Salem.

The national Quilt Revival, beginning in the 1970s, has a long and rich history of activities, participation, and interest in Oregon. Many quilt guilds were established presenting annual shows, classes, and competitions. This facilitated discussion will look back at some of the stories surrounding these events.  Significant quilts and personal scrapbooks from this era will be shown. Plan to attend share your story, experience, and/or quilt.

The program will be presented twice, once at 10 AM and once at 1:00 PM

This program is held in conjunction with Quiltopia and the WHC’s latest exhibit: Stitches and Stories: Discoveries of the Oregon Quilt Project.
