Miss Mary Sheridan worked in the Finishing Room of the original TKWM from 1891-1895.
Mary Sheridan was born 15 July 1872 in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, to John and Catherine [Micklebrook] Sheridan. She was one of seven children born to the couple. She came to Oregon with her parents in 1890 and lived in and near Lebanon for the greater part of her life. In 1895 she worked as a household servant in Salem, OR. Prior to that she worked at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill along with other female family members.
She died 23 Apr 1898 at age 25 after months of illness. From her obituary, “She was an excellent young lady, with a kind and pleasant disposition and had many friends. The funeral services were conducted at Albany on Monday (25 Apr) where the remains were taken for burial. A large number of friends and relatives gathered to pay their last respects to the departed bringing garlands of choicest flowers as tokens of their love and respect.”
She was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Albany, OR. |
