Ā Ā Ā Ā  George was born in Illinois on 3 May 1904 to Herman and Mary Hemann, both emigres from Germany. Sometime prior to 1910, the family moved to Texas where Herman farmed for at least 10 years. Something brought the family to Oregon sometime before Herman passed away in 1926. The family may have had relatives in the Salem area.Ā Ā 

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Soon after his fatherā€™s death, George married Eva Albrich on 10 Oct 1926 in Salem, OR and began married life at their 1455 Mill St home. He worked as a loom fixer for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. George took a break from TKWM in 1932 and worked as a mechanic. George and Eva had two children between 1931 and 1932, George H. and Edward R. George was back at TKWM by 1934. His sister Christina also worked at the mill, as a spooler.Ā 

Ā Ā Ā Ā  George passed away on 29 Sep 1951 at age 47 after working 21 years at TKWM. He is buried at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem. Eva, at the time of her death on 18 Oct 1966, worked as a dental assistant and lived with her son Lawrence B Hemann in Hanford, CA.Ā
