OTL to Return in 2020!
The Willamette Heritage Center (WHC) is working through a three-year strategic planning process which will allow us to provide programming to the community in a more mission-driven way, giving us an opportunity to better connect generations through the excitement of learning about and living the history of the Mid-Willamette Valley.
One of the most popular events on at WHC is Oregon Trail Live (OTL). OTL serves as an excellent educational opportunity by making history accessible, memorable, and FUN! Through our strategic planning process, we will be evaluating ways to make OTL – and all our programs and educational experiences – the best they can be.
This year, we are going to take a break from this event, but invite the community to keep in touch and watch our website and social media for a new unveiling of OTL in 2020. The time of year for the event is still be determined, but we will be providing a new upgraded and exciting event for the whole family. The premise will stay the same – this fun live-action game will still give teams a chance to compete in a variety of challenges across our five-acre campus including a three-legged dysentery race, caulking your wagons, hunting for game, and more! At the end, the best (and most ill-fated) pioneers will be celebrated in the award ceremony!
We are currently looking for feedback, suggestions, and ideas to make the 2020 Oregon Trail Live the best it can be. Please provide any thoughts or ideas on what you enjoy about this wildly fun event and what you think we could do better. Our goal is to offer the best programming we can to our community. And that sometimes means stopping, regrouping, and reconsidering what we are offering! Please help us to make the return of OTL the splash we are expecting it will be.
And keep your wagons caulked – and be on the lookout for a return to the Oregon Trail in 2020!
