Robert Rich worked briefly at TKWM in the mid 1930s in the Weaving department, along with his father Sam and brother Larry.
Robert David Rich was born 5 Dec 1913 in Salem, OR to Samuel and Augusta [Fleischmann] Rich. He was one of five children born to the couple. The family lived at 1148 N. 12th Street at the time of his birth. He attended Salem public schools. After graduation he took a job at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in the weaving department.
By 1940 he had moved to Ozone, Johnson, Arkansas according to his WW2 draft registration card. He listed his occupation as a minister. It is also of interest to note his personal description as listed on the card. He was 5 ft. 5 ¾” in. tall and weighed 130 lbs. His eyes were hazel and his hair brown. Robert was not called up for military service. In June 1940 he married Naomi Esther Waltz in Kenwood, New York. The couple would have four children: Beverley, Robert, Paul and Marilyn.
By 1946 the family had moved to Pierce City, Missouri where Robert worked for the American Sunday School Union Church. Then in 1950 they moved to Fouts Springs, California for student missionary training with the New Tribes Mission. In 1952 they were placed with the New Tribes Mission in Brazil. The family remained in Brazil until retirement in 1983. Then they returned to the U.S. and established a new home in Sanford, Florida.
Naomi died in 1993. Robert followed 17 May 1995. He was 81 years old. Both were listed as retired missionaries and members of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at the time of their deaths. |
