Christine Bernadette Hemann was born 10 Sep 1900 in Germantown, Illinois to parents Herman H. and Mary Hemann. She was one of six children. She came to Salem in 1923 from Texas, with her family. They were farmers. Father Herman died Jun 1926 at the family home east of Salem. The older children went to work to support their family. Christine took a job at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as a spooler. She worked at the mill until her marriage.

She married Fred Goffin 28 May 1936 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salem, OR. They were the parents of one son, Warren, born in 1937. She and Fred moved to the Macleay area, leasing the historic John Waldo farm for 24 years before moving to Jefferson.

Christine died 14 Sep 1980 in a Salem nursing home after living in the Jefferson area for 15 years. She was buried in the Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stayton, OR. Husband Fred died in 1995 at the age of 92. He was buried next to Christine.
