            Grace E. Lansing was born 17 Apr 1886 in Audubon, Iowa to William and Annette [Griebe] Lansing. She was the middle of eight children. The family moved to Salem, OR by 1900 where father William continued his work as a carpenter / farmer. The family lived on a farm just east of the Salem fairgrounds.  

            At 18, Grace took work at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as a napper. While at the mill she met future husband Ed Pero. They were married 30 Apr 1915 in Salem, OR. Ed was 31 years old and Grace 24. After the birth of their only child William, Grace left employment at the mill and the couple bought a home at 1460 D St. They remained in this home for the next 12 years. 

            Ed died suddenly on 26 Sep 1936. He was only 58 years old. The couple’s son William was 21 years at the time. Grace remarried 20 Dec 1937. Her second husband was Stewart McFee, a recently divorced man that worked at the Brownsville Woolen Mill. Grace passed away on 1 May 1944 and was buried next to Ed in Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem.
