Pearle Doyle worked as a spooler for TKWM sporadically from 1906-1910.

Pearle Margaret Doyle was born 15 July 1892 in Teanaway, WA to John Clarence and Clara Ellen [Palmer] Doyle. She was the oldest child of the couple, though her mother had a son named William from a previous marriage. In 1900, the family lived in Roslyn, WA where her father operated a saloon.

At the age of fifteen, Pearle lived in Salem, OR and boarded at 766 Ferry St. She found work at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as a spooler. Her father John Doyle died 5 Sep 1907 from kidney cancer and her mother Clara moved to Portland, OR and took in work as a laundress.

Pearle married Wheaton W. Huntley on 20 Oct 1908, it was the first marriage for both. Their marriage record gave Wheaton’s age as 19 and his occupation as a laborer. He was from Stayton, OR. Pearle was 16 years old. They would be the parents of three children. Son John Gerald was born in 1909.

The couple moved with Wheaton’s farm work as illustrated on the 1910 census record. They were recorded in the household of employers Charles and Julie Bergstrom, on a farm in Hubbard. Baby Gerald was 5 months old. It is of interest to note that Pearl and Gerald were captured twice in census records. The second entry with Pearle’s mother Clara up in Portland. It was in Portland that baby Gerald died of entero-colitis, an infection of the digestive tract, at 9 months. He died 26 Aug 1910 and was buried in Multnomah Park Cemetery.

Two more children were born to the couple in 1913 and 1915. Son Terence Doyle in Stayton, OR and daughter Nellie in Brooks, OR. In July 1919 Pearle sued for divorce from her husband. The Oregon Statesman newspaper reported that:

He has remained away from home for months at a time without contributing anything for her support, that while he was in the marine corps and stationed in Seattle he frequently appeared at questionable resorts with a woman whom she names, and that since his return home he has written to this woman frequently and has received endearing letters from her. The couple have two children, aged six and four years. She asks for divorce and for custody of the children. No property is involved in the suit.

The divorce was granted in December. Pearle married her second husband, Lester Earl Frame on 1 Mar 1920 in Vancouver, WA. Both groom and bride falsified their ages on the marriage paperwork. Lester was a resident of Salem and worked as a truck driver. Pearl was also a resident of Salem and worked as a clerk.  Divorce papers were filed on 10 Jun 1920 and the marriage was annulled 10 Aug 1920 as Lester was not of age.

Pearle married her third husband James Francis Schrunk on 20 Oct 1920 in Vancouver, WA. Information recorded on their marriage certificate indicated that James was 29 years old, divorced, and worked as a farmer. Pearle was 28, also divorced, and worked as a nurse. The family moved to the Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood in 1921. They bought a home on Ivanhoe St. And James worked as a millwright for a lumber company.

In 1940, The family still lived on Ivanhoe St. In Portland, Pearle was 47 years old and did not have an occupation outside the home. Her husband worked as a carpenter for a meat packing plant. Daughter Nellie still lived at home. In 1942, son Terry joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ticonderoga and gained the rank of lieutenant.
