Wilfred C. “Call Me Bill” Hagedorn
Still a student at Salem High School, Bill Hagedorn was hired as the Mickey Mouse Club Master of Ceremonies (M.C.) November 15, 1936 at the Elsinore theater in Salem, Oregon. As host his duties included announcing acts, performing skits, presenting awards, and coordinating advertising and recognition of local sponsors, which included everything from J.C. Penny’s to De Luxe Ice Cream. His scrapbook is now part of the Willamette Heritage Center’s collections (1996.014.0001). It includes samples of his writing for the Oregon State Legislature, Mickey Mouse Club materials and more.
