Carl Oscar Allport was born 19 Sep 1903 in Salem, OR to Norman and Augusta [Donaldson] Allport. He was one of ten children born to the couple. His family moved around quite a bit during his childhood as his father took work in woolen mills in Salem, Eugene and Provo, Utah. He learned the carding trade under his father’s tutelage in Knight Woolen Mill in Provo, Utah in the early 1920s. Then returned to Salem in 1924 to work for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill.  

Carl married Roberta Hansen on 13 Jun 1925 in Salem, OR. They would become the parents of two children: Dean and Jacqueline. At the time of their marriage, Roberta was a beautician and owned her own beauty shop. Carl worked for TKWM until the mill closure in 1962, then went to Jefferson Woolen Mills in Stayton.  

Carl died 27 Sep 1983 in Salem, OR. Wife Roberta died three years later. Both were cremated and interred at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem.
