Life Story 

 

 

 Lillie Zwicker worked as a weaver at TKWM from 1917-1919 along with twin sister Tillie and other family members. 

Lillian “Lillie” Augusta Zwicker and twin sister Otillie “Tillie” Zwicker were born 20 Jan 1899 in Salem, OR. They were the last of thirteen children born to German immigrants George and Clara Zwicker. 

Lillie and sister Tillie worked in the weaving department of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. Lillie left mill work to marry George E. Scott. They were married by County Judge W. M. Bushey on 12 Mar 1919 in Salem, OR. The groom was age 30 and from Pendleton. Lillie was 21 years old. They were later divorced. Following their divorce Lillie returned to Salem and attended Willamette University. 

On 18 Dec 1935, Lillie married Alfred C. Welcome. The couple lived in Burns, Oregon until Lillie’s death on 10 July 1951. She died following an operation for uterine tumor in a hospital in Ontario, Oregon. She was buried in Burns Cemetery.
